Health & Wellness Fair to be held March 30 at Main Library

Health and Wellness imageThe Atlantic City Free Public Library will hold a Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, March 30, from 11 a.m-2 p.m. on the Main Library’s first floor. The fair is free and open to the public.
The following organizations will have representatives at the fair:
Southern Jersey Medical Center: Learn about the preventative and primary health care Southern Jersey Medical Center provides, regardless of one’s ability to pay. It will also have information about diabetes management classes.
The Cape-Atlantic Coalition for Health and N.J. Cancer Education & Early Detection: Get information about free cancer screenings and other issues for the uninsured and under-insured. The group will also use props to demonstrate how to do self exams for breast and testicular cancer.
Atlantic County Division of Public Health: Find out about clinic services and county resources that are available on child and maternal health, chronic disease prevention, nutrition and exercise tips, and emergency preparedness.
Horizon NJ Health: Will offer information about their Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare programs. Medicaid is available to parents or caretakers and dependent children, pregnant women, people who are elderly, blind or disabled, as well as those people enrolled in the Division of Youth and Family Services and the Division of Developmental Disabilities. NJ FamilyCare is designed to allow low-income, working families to have access to coverage. Horizon will also have literature on health problems such as asthma, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and more.
Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Screen NJ: The group will hold an educational session, “Colorectal Cancer Education, Screening, and Prevention Program: Empowering Communities for Life” at 11:30 a.m. The session will cover colorectal cancer prevention and risk reduction, as well as screening options and resources.
