• Annual Makers Day event returns March 23

    NJMakersDaylogoThe Atlantic City Free Public Library will participate in the Fifth annual New Jersey Makers Day on Saturday, March 23. This event will give people of all ages an opportunity to participate in maker-related activities and collaborative projects from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Main Library’s Teen Makerspace and meeting room, both located on the second floor.   • Library receives $10,000 grant to offer ESL classes

    American Dream Literacy logo2The Atlantic City Free Public Library was one of 16 public libraries selected nationwide this year to receive a $10,000 American Dream Literacy Initiative grant from the American Library Association (ALA) and Dollar General Literacy Foundation. With the funding, the library will offer a new program, “Path to the American Dream: English Language Learning.” As part of the program, the library will hold English as a Second Language (ESL) basic courses.   • Library offering new workforce training program

    workforce trainingThe Atlantic City Free Public Library, in partnership with Atlantic Cape Community College, will look to present greater employability opportunities for local residents by offering a new training program: Communication Skills for the 21st Century Workforce (CS21). The CS21 program will provide qualified disadvantaged, displaced and employed workers an additional opportunity to obtain workplace literacy services and career pathway training.   • The Atlantic City Free Public Library has made children’s books available at select city barbershops this winter after being named a recipient of a Fade to Books grant in 2017 and has maintained this program hoping it will grow.
